14th Street Bridge Closing Tuesday, May 27 On May 27, 2008 at 12:01 a.m., the 14th Street Bridge will close to vehicles and pedestrians. According to the current schedule, the bridge will not reopen until summer 2010. Motorists will be detoured to the 17th Street Bridge during this time.

With this closure, traffic congestion throughout Midtown is expected to increase, so plan your commute and daytime trips now.

Ellie Mae wore my orange medal all day with pride. She is so freakin' cute.

Yes, we got a scooter. I took it to work this morning in the 40 degrees...then had a massive winter coat on the way home when it was 70 degrees. Atlanta is crazy that way. Anyways, the scooter is awesome. It can get just over 40mph, but I just take it on side roads to work so I really only go like 30mph to and from work.

So the next time you are driving and you see a scooter, think of ree and take caution. And if you are itching to scoot, I can help with some knowledge after researching this purchase. OH!!! And I DON'T scoot in a short dress. I was being lazy this afternoon that we took pictures.

New Job

I have started my new position as Event Coordinator for the College of Management at Georgia Tech. I'm in the undergraduate suite at Tech Square and am LOVIN' IT! It's so exciting to be back in midtown, I love the people I work with, and am really looking forward to getting in the grove of things and getting more settled. So e-mail me for lunch!

There was most definitely some sort of love affair between Rami and Chris these past two weeks. Those 2 remind me of some childhood TV favorites. Do you see the resemblance?

Big final episode is next week! I think I'm rooting for Rami. We only got a brief viewing of all 3 collections, but I do think Rami's was very intriguing.

Jellyfish Story

OK, I'm not a fan of fowards. However, this one came to me and 1) I need material for my blog and 2) I have been stung by a number of jelly fish. Once I dove off a rock...did a stroke under water...and my whole face and shoulders went through a number of tentacles whose jellyfish owners were floating on the surface. It felt like I was swimming through a spiderweb and I totally knew what hit me but there was nothing I could do about it at that point. Here is a much worse story:

"Hi Sue, Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother. Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you've beenfeeling down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so bad after all.

Before I can tell you what happened to me, I firstmust bore you with a few technicalities of my job. As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea and I peform underwater repairs on off-shore drilling rigs. I wear a suit to the office. It's a wet suit.

This time of year the water is quite cold. So what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel powered industrial water heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the water out ofthe sea. It heats it to a delightful temperature. It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden hose, which is taped to the air hose.

Now this sounds like a darn good plan, and I've used it several times with no complaints. What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is to take the hose and stuff it down the back of my wet suit. This floods my whole suit with warm water. It's like working in a Jacuzzi.

Everything was going well until all of a sudden, mybutt started to itch. So, of course, I scratched it. This only made things worse. Within a few seconds my butt started to burn.

I pulled the hose out from my back, but the damage was done. In agony, I realized what had happened. The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit. Now, since I don't have any hair on my back, the jellyfish couldn't st ick to it. However, the crack of my butt was not as fortunate.When I scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish into the crack of my butt.

I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, a long with five other divers, were all laughing hysterically.

Needless to say I aborted the dive.I was instructed to make three agonizing in-water decompression stops totaling thirty-five minutes before I could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression. When I arrived at the s urface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet. As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter running down his face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt as soon as I got in the chamber. The cream put the fire out, but I couldn't poop for two days because my butt was swollen shut.

So, the next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your butt. Now repeat after me, "I love my job, I love my job, I love my job."

And, whenever you're having a bad day, ask yourself, is this a jellyfish bad day?"

The truth is that there is no picnic on a beach. It is so cold I feel like I just walked out of a fridge, people are karate-chopping penguins, and cars are covered in snow. That is the sad sad truth. I like the picnic idea better :)

How is it 70 degrees and Sunny on Tuesday, and then 30 degrees, cloudy with flurry specs on Wednesday? I'm not saying it's snowing today (or that it will snow) but I definitely saw tiny flurry dots when I was out for lunch just now...and I was definitely hot in shorts and a t-shirt less than 24 hours ago.

Oh Atlanta...we love you for your little surprises and spontaneity.

I know, I don't post this as much as I should, sorry. Here is a recap of life lately.

Last weekend. Erg Sprints. The sprints went awesome. 474 seats were raced in a 7 hour time window. Cassi, Beth, Craig, Mark, Marc, Suzanna, Jenny and Bart...you are all my favorite people right now. Thanks for making the event so great. Thanks for understanding and adding to my strict organizational skills. Thanks for going to Clarmont lounge with me even though I was smelling bad (I can't believe we actually went there, but it is an Atlanta landmark, and now we can say that we have been there and never go back).

This weekend. Folks are in town for Steven's wedding so it will be catch up with all the A-Town '02-'04 rowing crew...and probably lots of wedding work myself.

Weekend after that. Canada!! So hopefully I'll post more after weekends to fill you in on life.

I googled what time the big game starts, and I saw a rumor that Bon Jovi and Bruce Springstein would be performing this year. So I got really excited and googled some more. Yes, I use google as a verb and you can comment about it all your want but I'll still do it. Anyways, I do not think that I'll be quieting the room for halftime like I did in 1991 when New Kids on the Block were center stage (truthfully I went to the upstairs TV so I had total concentration and could freely do the Hangin Tough dance). It looks like Bon Jovi turned the offer down. Probably because Paula Abdul is on the list. Back in the day, I took 2 steps forward and 2 steps back just like the rest of them in third grade. But the idea of Paula Abdul and some American Idol people I've never heard of does not grab my attention. I'll probably be asleep by 2nd quarter anyways. I did read that Victoria Secret has a $3 million ad. That's enticing.

So I'm blogging again. What do we blog about? Oh yeah, our lives right...isn't this why we started individual blogs. So even though we didn't have class or practice together anymore, we can still keep up with one anothers life. I mean, we can watch Ana grow on her blog, Shelly read, Bob take pictures, Cassi be political, and Steven write lots of text.

So let me tell you about my weekend. Mum's coming. She lands in 2 hours and is spending the weekend with us. It'll be glorious. We're gonna make invitations and go make my wedding dress fit right (hopefully anyways, because right now it's a lose white garbage bag).

Shelia is gone. I sold her. I'm actually pretty sad. There are some fun memories of that truck. Most notably going through crystal drive through after trivia nights. Melissa knows what I'm talking about. Stars! Stars! Stars! It was actually pretty fun picking up free couches, listening to country music in the tape decks, putting hula girls on the dash board, etc. Here is a picture of Tierson, Siebert and Brinkworth sitting in the back of it while Suzanna and I drove. We were all going to the bookstore to hang the Zung this day. That was a good day.

It's here...it's totally here. Dance Dance Revolutions UNIVERSE! Game Mode, Party Mode, Challenge Mode, Workout Mode, Travel Mode... complete with new songs (one being Magic Carpet Ride). Man-Oh-Man. The second pad should show up tomorrow so Shelly you can come over and play with me. We can get up to 4 players though...and there are so many setting I haven't explored yet.

Last weekend..I think...I went to Manhattan to visit all the loyal southerners who moved north. Suzanna is in CT, Melissa Danny & Ana are in NJ and Sarah and Will are in NYC. Well, it was luck that Sarah was there as she is in the middle of her 6 month post in Pakistan but was home for just a week. Anyways it was lots of fun. Good shopping, saw "Avenue Q", sang karyoke and I met up with my high school friend Alison. Here are some pictures for you!

I know a Tulip Fairy. She came to me at work today and dropped off some flowers. She didn't sign the card. They are very beautiful and made my day a lot brighter. I've never gotten flowers at work before so it was quite a surprise.

Cirque Du Soleil was VERY exciting. So amazing. Jaw dropping in disbelief. I suggest it to everyone and anyone. Almost every seat is a good seat...and the tent was pleasantly warm inside too.

On other notes..."a work in progress" has been in progress for over a year. It's no longer a blog-star Suzanna. Sorry.

Thank goodness it is Friday. Work has been TOO much lately. I'll be very happy when coaching starts up again (1 week left!). The water has a certain element of relaxation to it.

Let's get our butts off the couch and start training for spring road races!

March 18, 2007 is the date that the AJC will have the Peacthree Road Race registration.

Atlanta Women's 5K is on March 24 in Chandler Park. Team Awesome came in 3rd place to Team-Atlanta-Track-Club and Team-Phidipidies. We are so awesome and we have a title to defend!!

The ING 1/2 marathon and full marathon is the day after (March 25). Let's cheer on most awesomest Team Awesome member Jenny Yusin if we don't do it ourselves!

Finally, the Virginia Summerfest 5K is in June sometime - can't find the date yet - but that is a really run 5K too.

These are the road races I know to be at the awesome caliber Team Awesome demands. If you know of a roadrace to do sooner or inbetween - comment it up!!!

Hello friends and family. An update of early 2007 in the life of ree includes:

- Working...blah
- Cassi, Craig, Beth and I are knee deep in planning for the Atlanta Erg Sprints. Raise your glass for us the night of February 10th as by then it will be all over and we will be celebrating
- Coaching AJRA (Atlanta Junior Rowing Association). Whoo-Hoo!
- Tickets for Cirque Du Soleil, Atlanta Thrashers and All Shook Up
- Travling to Atlantic Beach to start on a 2007 tan and plan Bart and I's wedding
- Helping Dad move out of the condo due to his recent transfer to Atlantic Beach

...that's the most of my life. Besides winning trivia and trying to see friends and family as much as possible! I'll try to update more exciting posts as time goes by.

Pertaining to number 20 below...
I collect the Head of the Charles posters. Adrienne Murray went to the Charles this year and was nice enough to bring back this years poster for my collection. Well...to my surprise when she brought it back for me - the main part of the poster is a GT rower at the finish part of the stroke! Word was that the rower was Bart!

I did some e-mailing and got the original picture used for the 2006 poster. It's him! I can't find a picture of the poster on line...but it's up at our house so you can see it there. Here is the original picture it was taken from. The poster is black and white and very cool.

Things I have done while I have been gone from the blog world

1) Joined a new company called Incredible Events. Yes we are incredible. You don't have to ask
2) Coached the Varsity Women at the Atlanta Junior Rowing Association. They are awesome and fun...and oh yeah - good at rowing! We have our last regatta this Saturday.
3) Attended 2 weddings. Congradulations Faye and Regan!
4) Raced a single 3 times.
5) Coxed my first race...ever...in huge waves too! What a rush
6) Dressed a Heidi Klum for Halloween and Bart was Tim Gunn. Man I miss Project Runway
7) Went to Orlando for my future sister in laws bridal shower. She has EVERYTHING now for her new kitchen for her new life with my brother. I gave her the necessities to bake cookies because Mike loves cookies.
8) Started planning Erg Sprints. Yes, I'm doing that again. This is the year. It's gonna be the best year yet.
9) Went to Tech football games. Thanks Craig and Beth for the beer
10) Played trivia and won team name competitions.
11) Ate breakfast at Cracker Barrell like 10 times - we have brainstorming sessions there for work.
12) Bought a plane ticket to ROME, ITALY! I leave in T minus two weeks from today.
13) Pet Ellie-Mae 1 bazillion 43 times.
14) Caught 1 cold and 1 cough.
15) Got very excited when heard that Shelly got a new DDR game. I will be over to play soon Shelly
16) Practice my vocals for the christmas CD.
17) Mastered the "easy" version of Sudoku. I have completed 2 "mediums" now too.
18) Put "John Tucker Must Die" in our Netflix que. Bart hasn't said anything yet.
19) Picked out and had delivered a new couch and ottoman. It's really cozy.
20) Verified for sure that Bart IS the model on the official 2006 Head of the Charles poster. I got a copy of the original picture (so with the head back on) and it is Bart!
21) Used the Swiffer Sweep+Vac at least once a week and couldn't have been happier with the job done each and every time.
22) Quit The Fun Company (see number 1). Cleared out the old office
23) Drove to Spring Grove, Illinois to deliver the first official event for Incredible Events. Corn Maze, Corn Launching, Apple Plucking, Camp Fires, Drive-In movie...and 3000 people.
24) Carved pumpkins with the cuttest kid in the world. Ana is practically crawling!!

OK, I've actually done more than that but I don't think I could actually list it all. You would start to get bored.

Remember when Vincent said to Laura "why don't you put some Harry Winston's up your nose"? I hope I wasn't the only one who didn't really know what the hell that meant or if it made ANY sense.

Harry Winstons is jewelry. I think this is the Manhattan fashion way of saying "Up your nose with a rubber hose". The insult up there is to shove ruby's and diamonds up ones nose. Interesting. Perhaps Sarah and Will can add some insight to this.

If you know me, you know I like to shop. Cloths, Home Furnishings, Jewlery, etc. I've slept in the IKEA parking lot just to be one of the first to enter the front doors. I am one of those people who love to shop the day after Thanksgiving. I like to think I get good bargins on that day. Anyways, there are good warehouse boutique sales going on in Atlanta this weekend. Click HERE to see the location and times. I went to this first one this morning and it was pretty fabulous. Project Runway Season three airs tonight.

Will our Atlanta Designer Michael Knight put us more on the radar than the season two Atlanta designer? Who will be our Vesace-channeling villian like Santino. Will anyone be threatened by a pair of pinking shears or strangle someone else with Chiffon? I don't want any spoilers this season folks. So bring on the space pants! Sure...headphones go perfect with winter ensembles. Walk off's may happen to even the best of designers (yes, Nick is still one of my favorites). And where did you go...Danial Franco? (is that song in mp3 format yet Nick and Santino because I'd like to download it). Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum are both back so we have more phrases to encorporate in our every day lives like "make it work!", "Carry On", "TRESemme Hair Salon", "They are going like bagels" and....of course "are you IN? or OUT?"

Word is tonight's challenge is to develop an outfit out of furniture in a room.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY.

Free stuff I got from the Peachtree Road Race includes:

One more entertainment post.

I know this is old news, but JK Rowling has announced that 2 (two!?!?) characters will die off in the seventh and final year of wizardry school. Though she wrote the final chapter of the seventh year at Hogwarts in 1990 (so has known how this will end a long time ago), she is still writing the last novel of the Harry Potter series. I hope Hedwig or Buckbeak (though lovable creatures) are one or both of those characters because I'm not sure how I'll be able to take two magical folk dieing. It will be a very tense read.

Back to the title of this post. You can bet on which two characters Rowling will dispose of on www.wagerweb.com. Both Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort are 3 to 1 (though that would be ridiculous and you are throwing your money away at that point). Voldemort and Snape are 10 to 1!!! The Weasly twins are 40 to 1!!!

OK, I know I have been all TV and Movie talk lately. I'm usually not this into entertainment...but how can you avoid it when we can experience being the Masters of the High Seas in less than 2 weeks...and Project Runway will be airing Season 3 so soon.

Driving tonight - will arrive Thursday morning. Will be on I-75 North for a long time. If we hit Canada we went to far...but might just stay to rake leaves and tap trees.

This is the week of Re-Unions. I have recently been in touch with a high school friend who I do not know if I have really spoken too since freshman year of college. Sara, thanks so much for e-mailing me. I hope to keep in touch with you, Amanda, Liza, Lori, Katie and maybe even Allison soon. It has motivitated me to update my blog more often. It's Memorial Day...and that means Clearwater, FL for the GT Crew crowd of 2002 - 2004. I'm sure we'll create many more memories this weekened. Last years perks included a 10 person pyramid, a jaquizzi overload, Fudge Royal, DDR, Mafia, pina colatas, chicken fights, Catch Phrase, air mattresses, morning runs, strawberry daiquiris...and all in all just a well documented vacation.

Over the past year our friends have relocated to new cities, gotten engaged, change jobs, become mothers, graduated from graduate school, and even purchases homes. Though we move through different stages in our life we will always have each other and we should all know how lucky we are. I didn't think I could build-up this weekends trip anymore, but it'll be so great to see everyone together, again.

And I know what you are saying..."If you have time to write this Ree you have time to change your template". And you are probably right. Let's say it is laziness. I don't think a lot of you would buy that either. Maybe we should just blame society...that we constantly need to adapt our surroundings. Maybe we should just all be happy where we are. Of course I'd probably still be in High School then jumping off water towers into the resevoir. Well...no I guess they'd kick me out at some point and my mother would fill out my college applications for me. I think than Maybe I'd still be in the X-Men 2 movie theater...because that was a really happy content time. Exept when Jean's mind let the water go. So that would end eventually too. I think that my days can forever be content with my new Pirate Mouse. Though even some day USP will be a thing of the past and Pirate-Mouse will have to go into hiding. So I guess I should get Rudolf and his friends off my blog. Not now though - covering reception at work is almost over and I have to take care of my own work again :(

Well...we have deciphered the spots on our skin as either dirt, bruises or tattoos. We have put our White Elephant gifts in the back of the closets to re-gift at next years office party. We were all together. We drank everything in the house (can you say restock-the-bar-party?) and we did a congo line throughout the neighbors house. We danced and we danced some more. We sneezed and we wore straw hats. We rekinddled our love with slap bracelets and learned that butterfly tattoos around the neck are surprisingly attractive. We ate and sang and spun around. We hugged and we now miss each other.

but most of all...we WERE Bon Jovi.

OK. Family Stone was worth seeing - more of a tear jerker than I was expecting...but good all the same. Fun with Dick and Jane comes out soon, and so does Cheaper by the Dozen 2. So is King Kong worth the 3 hours of my life? I didn't see it this past weekend (contrare to previous posts) and will have serious movie choices over the holidays. Where will Kong rank? Someone tell me.
